SHIM`A

80 secular families between the ages of 30-55 make their homes in the Southern Hebron Hills community of Shim'a. Doctors, policemen, educators and private businessmen travel to nearby Metar, Beersheva and other southern towns.

Pre-schoolers find a warm, caring environment in which to best develop during their tender years while elementary school age children are provided with transportation to Metar and high school children travel to Beersheva.

Extracurricular activities are of high priority to Shim'a residents as reflected in the wide variety offered, including martial arts, sports, drawing and more. In addition, there is a special teens center, community center, library and organized religious classes, especially around holiday time.

The community synagogue is active during holidays and a mikveh is provided for Shim'a residents.

Grocery stores and medical facilities are available in Metar and Beersheva.

Egged Line 61 between Jerusalem and Beersheva passes by Shim'a four times each day.
