KFAR ADUMIM

Ten families established the integrated, religious and secular, community of Kfar Adumim in 1979. Today 280 families between the ages of 20-60 live together in a pluralistic community which includes many olim from around the world. From a wide variety of backgrounds, residents make their living in the fields of education, medicine, industry and many, many others.

 

There is a warm, caring day care center for children from the age of 3 months to 3 years and three levels of kindergarten. There is also a kindergarten group for children with special needs where art therapy, play therapy and other methods are employed.

 

The elementary school is under the auspices of the religious department of the education ministry but includes a special program for children from secular homes. Organized transportation is provided by the Binyamin Regional Council for junior high and high school students to attend any of the wide spectrum of educational frameworks in the Jerusalem area.

 

Extracurricular activities include the martial arts, science, creative writing, zoology and art for children, art, creative writing and fitness for women and a wide variety of sports for men. The scouts provide integrated activities for the religious and secular children.

 

There is a library, basketball court and swimming pool in Kfar Adumim as well as a synagogue, mikve, grocery store and senior citizens center. Medical facilities are provided in neighboring Ma’aleh Adumim or in Jerusalem.

 

 

Directions:Drive from the French Hill neighborhood of Jerusalem toward Ma’aleh Adumim. Turn left toward The Dead Sea and look for the sign to Kfar Adumim on your left at the gas station.

 

There is frequent bus service to Kfar Adumim from Jerusalem and Ma’aleh Adumim.
