ELON MOREH

 Elon Moreh is the largest community in the region known as "Gav HaHar" (literally: the backbone of the mountain). From its highest points, the coast of Israel can be seen on one side and the Judean Desert, The Jordan Valley and even the country of Jordan on the other

Elon Moreh is the tangible connection between the historical importance of Nablus and this entire area of Israel and the reality of the Land of Israel today

220 families make their homes in Elon Moreh, old and young, native-born Israelis and olim, all preserving the nature of this Torah community. Most family heads are graduates of hesder and yeshiva gevoha. Many are employed in education within the community and others work in agriculture, as sofrei stam and in a variety of businesses in the coastal region or in the Shomron

Elon Moreh is well known for its emphasis on educational frameworks with an answer for every age from 3 months through junior high and with several post-high school alternatives

In addition to the private and regional council run day care centers, there are two kindergartens, an excellent boys’ elementary school with a focus on learning mishnayot, psukim and prayer by heart and an excellent girls’ elementary school which houses the regional environmental protection program culminating in the recycling facility for the entire “Gav HaHar” area

Over 90 young men, immigrants from the former Soviet Union, learn in El Artzi, a religious high school. These young men, unable to learn in conventional educational institutions due to language difficulties or the challenges of cultural differences, are given another chance at integrating successfully into Israeli society at El Artzi. Upon completion of the program, the students undertake a full bagrut and enlist in the army as Israelis in every way

110 talmidim learn in the hesder yeshiva, “Birkat Yosef” under the guidance of Rabbi Eliyakim Levenon, shlita, the Rabbi of Elon Moreh

The Academic Institute for Women was established in Elon Moreh to provide an educational framework suitable for religious young women desirous of an academic degree gained in a Torah atmosphere. In addition to secular topics, classes are provided in the skills necessary to build a firm foundation for a Jewish family

Informal educational activities in Elon Moreh include dance, art and sports. There are Torah classes regularly on every level and in every size group. Beit Chabad, under the guidance of Rabbi Yehuda Rubin, provides cultural and educational activities all year round and especially around each holiday

Inspiring a knowledge and love of Eretz Yisrael is the goal of the many activities led by the Field School of Elon Moreh

Community facilities include five synagogues, a mikve, basketball court, library, medical clinic, senior citizens center, grocery store and a swimming pool with separate swimming hours for men and women

Direction:From Jerusalem, take Highway 60 past the Tapuach intersection until the sign to Elon Moreh on your right

Travel time from Jerusalem is approximately one hour, from Rosh HaAyin 45 minutes and from Ariel 20 minutes

There is frequent bus transportation from Jerusalem and Ariel and one bus daily from Tel Aviv
