SHILO

The thriving community of Shilo was established in 1978 overlooking the beautiful Levona Valley in the Region of Binyamin.

210 families between the ages of 18-80, veteran Israelis and olim from The United States, Canada, England and France, live together in harmony in this Torah-based community, working in the fields of education, agriculture, hi-tech, medicine, law and many others.

Pre-schoolers receive warm care in the day care centers and kindergartens. Elementary school age children are fortunate to attend the Regional School located in Shilo, together with children from Maale Levona, Eli and Shvut Rahel.

High School girls have a choice of three excellent Ulpanot – Ofra, Bet El and Maale Levona. Boys can choose to learn an exclusively religious training high school in the Shilo community, "Bnai Bina", or travel to Bet El, Jerusalem or the coastal region – all close by.

HaRav Michael Brom is the educational inspiration and director of the Shilo Hesder Yeshiva where approximately 170 young men are enrolled annually.

Shilo boasts an active center for youngsters with a play area and a wide variety of extracurricular activities including drama, drawing and many, many others. There is also a Talmud Torah for boys from kindergarten through the 7th grade and a similar framework for girls once a week which integrates Torah learning with the arts.

The Oz Youth Group provides regular weekly activities for children in grades 1-3 and older children enjoy Bnei Akiva activities with groups divided by gender.

The Shilo synagogue offers two Ashkenazi minyanim, one Sephardi and one Yemenite. There are two mikvehs – one for women and a separate mikveh for men.

Among community facilities are a gym, swimming pool, sports fields, grocery store, post office, hats store, medical clinic and dental clinic.

Egged Lines 178 from Jerusalem and 577 from Tel Aviv travel to Shilo often during the day.
