MIGRON

Migron was established in 2001 with the intention of being a heterogeneous community to outward appearance but homogeneous in their commitment to a high level of Jewish values and conduct. While all families are religious, some women wear pants and some families have a television, since the major requirement for living in Migron is the genuine desire to keep mitzvoth and create a happy, healthy lifestyle.

There are various committees including education, culture, religious, absorption of new community members, security and community events.

Migron is located 5 kilometers north of Jerusalem. In strategic terms, the location looks out over Jerusalem and on many of The Binyamin Region's communities.

Fifty percent of the men in Migron learn in yeshiva and kolel in Jerusalem while some work in private professions. Among the women residents are nurses, social workers and teachers.

There are two groups of the youngest children in day care groups and a multi-aged kindergarten. Elementary school children learn outside of the community – the girls in Psagot and the boys in the Talmud Torah in neighboring Michmas.

Afternoon activities provided for the children include art, sports tournaments, carpentry, mishnayot for boys and gymboree and library groups twice a week.

There are fitness classes for women and Rosh Chodesh get togethers as well as Halacha classes twice a week and seminars in various subjects from time to time.

There are Torah lessons for men every other day and a Daf Yomi daily.

Just down the hill, there is a gas station with a vegetable market, shoe store and children's' clothing store adjacent to it.

Migron is a very short 10 minute drive to Northern Jerusalem.
